Synopsis/Plot
Ingrid Goes West is a 2017 American black comedy film written and directed by Matt Spicer. The film stars Aubrey Plaza as Ingrid Thorburn, an unstable young woman who becomes obsessed with an Instagram influencer named Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen). After her mother’s death, Ingrid moves to Los Angeles to befriend Taylor in real life.
The film follows Ingrid as she moves to Los Angeles and becomes obsessed with Taylor, who appears to have a perfect and glamorous life. Ingrid quickly begins to emulate Taylor’s lifestyle, buying the same clothes and furniture, and even renting the same house. She also begins to insert herself into Taylor’s life, befriending her friends and becoming a part of her inner circle.
However, Ingrid’s obsession soon takes a dark turn as her mental health begins to deteriorate and her behavior becomes increasingly erratic. Ingrid’s actions become increasingly desperate and destructive, culminating in a disastrous confrontation between Ingrid and Taylor.
