Synopsis – What to Expect from “In Dreams”
In Dreams is a psychological thriller released in 1999. It follows the story of a woman named Claire Cooper (Annette Bening), a successful suburban wife and mother who is struggling to cope with the loss of her daughter.
Claire begins to experience haunting dreams in which she is pursued by a mysterious figure, a serial killer named Vivian Thompson (Robert Downey Jr.). As the dreams become more frequent and vivid, Claire becomes increasingly disturbed and begins to doubt her own sanity.
Meanwhile, Vivian is on a killing spree and his victims are all people who have been in Claire’s dreams. Claire soon realizes that the only way to stop him is to find him and confront him in her dreams.
Claire begins to investigate Vivian’s past and discovers that he was a victim of childhood abuse. She also discovers that Vivian is connected to her daughter’s death and that he has been using her dreams to target his victims.
Claire eventually confronts Vivian in her dreams and learns the truth about her daughter’s death. She also learns that Vivian is being controlled by a powerful supernatural force.
In the end, Claire must use all of her strength and courage to confront this force and to save herself and her family from the nightmare of Vivian’s reign of terror.
