Synopsis – What to Expect from “Imperial Dreams”
Imperial Dreams is a 2014 drama film directed by Malik Vitthal and starring John Boyega, Rotimi, Keke Palmer, and Glenn Plummer. The story follows a young man named Bambi (John Boyega) who is released from prison after serving a two-year sentence. Bambi is determined to turn his life around and provide a better future for his son, but finds himself quickly pulled back into the crime and violence of his old neighborhood.
The film begins with Bambi being released from prison and returning home to Watts, a tough neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles. He is determined to make a better life for himself and his son, Daytone (Rotimi). He finds a job at a local gas station and begins to rebuild his life, but is quickly pulled back into the drug dealing and gang violence of his old neighborhood.
Bambi’s old friend, Q (Glenn Plummer), is a drug dealer and gang leader who is determined to keep Bambi in the streets. Q offers Bambi money and a place to stay, but Bambi refuses and instead focuses on getting his GED and finding a better job. Despite his efforts, the lure of easy money and the threat of violence from Q and his gang make it difficult for Bambi to stay out of trouble.
Meanwhile, Bambi’s relationship with his son is strained. Daytone is resentful of his father’s absence
