Synopsis/Plot
Identity Thief is a 2013 American comedy film directed by Seth Gordon and starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. The film follows Sandy Patterson (Bateman), an accounts manager from Denver, Colorado, who discovers that an identity thief named Diana (McCarthy) has stolen his identity and is using it to purchase luxury items in Florida. Sandy travels to Florida to confront Diana, but soon finds himself on the run from a local thug.
Sandy attempts to get the local police to help him, but they are uninterested. He then decides to take matters into his own hands and tracks down Diana. After a few failed attempts to apprehend her, Sandy eventually manages to capture her and drag her back to Denver. However, the local thug is still in pursuit and Sandy must find a way to protect himself and his family.
The film follows the unlikely duo as they journey across the country, encountering various obstacles along the way. Along the way, Sandy and Diana form an unlikely bond and eventually come to understand the importance of friendship and trust. In the end, Sandy manages to get his identity back and Diana is able to start a new life.
