Synopsis/Plot
Ideal Home is a 2018 American comedy-drama directed by Andrew Fleming and starring Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan. The film follows Erasmus and Paul, an affluent gay couple living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, whose lives are turned upside down when a ten-year-old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Erasmus and Paul must learn to adjust to the unexpected arrival and the ensuing chaos that follows.
Erasmus and Paul have been together for ten years and have a comfortable life. They enjoy their weekly dinner parties and the occasional getaway. But when Erasmus’ estranged son sends his ten-year-old grandson, Bill, to live with them, their lives are thrown into chaos. Bill is a troublemaker and Erasmus and Paul must learn to deal with his antics and the resulting chaos.
The couple must also learn to adjust to the new family dynamic and find a way to make it work. Along the way, they must learn to trust each other, as well as Bill, and find a way to make their home an ideal one.
