Synopsis – What to Expect from “I Am David”
I Am David is a 2003 drama film directed by Paul Feig and starring Jim Caviezel and Joan Plowright. The story follows David, a 12-year-old boy who is rescued from a Bulgarian prison camp and sent to Denmark to start a new life.
The film begins with David being rescued from the camp by a man named Johannes. Johannes gives David a compass, a letter, and a few coins, and tells him to travel to Copenhagen. David is initially suspicious of Johannes and reluctant to leave, but eventually decides to go.
On his journey, David meets a variety of people, some of whom help him and some of whom try to take advantage of him. He also experiences the joys and struggles of life on the road. He meets a kind old woman who takes him in and gives him a place to stay, and a young girl who helps him find his way.
Eventually, David makes it to Copenhagen and finds the address from Johannes’ letter. He is welcomed by a kind elderly woman, who reveals that she is his grandmother. She tells him that his parents are dead, and that she is his only family.
David begins to adjust to his new life in Copenhagen, but is still haunted by his past. He struggles to fit in at school and to make friends. He also has difficulty trusting people, and is constantly wary of being sent back to the prison camp.
As the story progresses, David learns
