Synopsis/Plot
Hysteria is a romantic comedy set in Victorian England about the invention of the vibrator. The women experience a range of symptoms, including anxiety, irritability, and lack of sexual desire. Dr. Granville soon discovers that the only way to cure hysteria is to manually massage the women’s pelvic area, a task which becomes increasingly difficult for him to perform.
In a stroke of genius, Dr. Granville invents the first vibrator, a device which can effectively help treat the women’s hysteria. The invention is a success and soon becomes a popular medical device. However, it also causes a stir in the conservative society of Victorian England, with some people believing that it is immoral and inappropriate.
The movie follows Dr. Granville as he navigates the moral and social implications of his invention, and as he falls in love with the beautiful Emily Dalrymple, the daughter of his employer. Despite the disapproval of her father, the two
