Users keep reporting the P-DEV318 issue. Viewers have encountered the Hulu Error Code P-DEV318 on Roku, Smart TVs, smartphones, and other handheld devices.

There are multiple tickets on this issue on the Hulu support center. We skimmed through all the possible solutions and have listed down the ones that seemed to fix the issue in close to all cases.

What Is Hulu Error Code P-DEV318?

Many users have encountered this error while watching Hulu Live, or streaming their favorite movies or TV series. The issue isn’t specific to a device and has popped up on smartphones, hand-held devices, and on Smart TVs.

Users have reported the Hulu Error Code P-DEV318 on Apple TV and Roku.

This is a playback-related issue that arises from one of the following reasons.

Low Internet Bandwidth

Hulu requires a minimum internet bandwidth of 8Mbps to steam its content. While streaming 4K UHD content requires 25 Mbps connectivity. If the bandwidth criteria aren’t met you will face connectivity issues and even errors while streaming.

Caching or Corrupt App Data

The Hulu app caches a lot of account info to provide users with a lot of handy features. However, over time this cached data can trigger errors while playback.

Errors like these can also arise from corrupt app data, common if you use different sign-ins on the same device.

VPN issues

Your VPN bounces your internet traffic over different servers thus masking your IP. And there are a few VPNs you can use to stream Hulu if you are living outside the US.

But if you are in the US, and use VPN or other proxy tools while streaming on Hulu, you are most likely to get an error message.

Hulu Server Problems

If there is an ongoing outage or server issue on Hulu’s servers, you are bound to get an error message, and there isn’t anything that you can do about it.

The most you can do is raise a ticket at Hulu’s service center for their support team to look into the issue.

How To Fix Hulu Error Code P-DEV318?

The Hulu Error Code P-DEV318 can is displayed for various reasons. Here are some solutions that can help you resolve the issue by yourself.

Close All Hulu Processes

A lot of background processes will still be running even if you close the Hulu app. Here’s how you can terminate all Hulu services and processes.

On Android

close all Hulu Processes
  • Open Settings and scroll to the Apps section.
  • Select Hulu and click Force Stop
  • Launch the Hulu app

On iOS

  • Launch the application switcher.
  • Swipe left and right to get to Hulu, and open the app preview.
  • Close Hulu and then restart the app.

Restart Web Browser

  • Open Task Manager and switch to the Processes Tab
  • Sort by App name to see all the Processes in your browser.

  • Select the processes and click End Task to kill them one at a time.
  • All instances of your browser will be closed
  • Launch your browser and navigate to Hulu. Sign in with your account details and try streaming. The issue shouldn’t pop up now.

Kill Browser Processes From CMD

  • Press Windows + R and type CMD.
  • Type tasklist and press Enter.You will see all the running tasks.
  • Find out the name of your browser from the task list.
  • Type taskkill /f /im <browser_task_name.exe> /t where <browser_task_name.exe> is the name of your browser task and press Enter. If you are using a chrome browser, type taskkill /f /im chrome.exe /t
  • Relaunch your browser and access Hulu.

Check Internet Connectivity

First, perform an internet speed test to find out whether your internet bandwidth meets Hulu’s streaming criteria.

Visit Speedtest and click Go, to check your internet bandwidth.

If your internet bandwidth checks out and you are still facing the error, restart your Wifi and try streaming on Hulu.

Reinstall Hulu

If the Hulu Error Code P-DEV318 is due to corrupt app packages or caching issues, the best bet is to uninstall Hulu from your device and reinstall it. Not only will it remove corrupt files it will install all the updated packages on your system.

Reinstall Hulu to fix error

On Android 

  • Tap and hold the Hulu app and select uninstall
  • Once the app is removed from your system, open the Google Play store, search for Hulu and download the app.
  • Let it install on your system and then log in with your account details
  • Launch Hulu and check if the defect persists

  • Press and hold the Hulu app icon and click Remove App to uninstall it from your device.
  • Visit the Apple app store, search Hulu and install it on your device
  • Launch Hulu and try streaming

Disconnect VPN/ Anonymous Proxy Tools

A VPN is most likely the reason behind the Hulu Error Code P-DEV318.

While you are streaming Hulu in the US, disconnecting your VPN or any other anonymous proxy tools should fix this error.

For those who are streaming from outside the US, go for VPNs like  PureVPN, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and Surfshark. They have multiple US servers and are known to work with Hulu.

Contact Hulu Support

If the above methods didn’t solve the error then you have to raise it with Hulu Service Centre.

Log into your Hulu account on a browser. Once you have logged into your account, visit Hulu Help Centre. Mention the device where you encountered the error, and what steps led to the error. The Hulu support team will revert to you.
