Synopsis/Plot
Howards End is a 1992 British drama film directed by James Ivory and starring Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anthony Hopkins. The film is based on the 1910 novel of the same name by E. M. Forster.
The story revolves around three families in Edwardian England: the wealthy Wilcoxes, the middle-class Schlegels, and the working-class Basts. The Wilcoxes are a wealthy family who live in the country estate of Howards End. The Schlegels are a family of intellectuals who live in London and are close friends with the Wilcoxes. The Basts are a struggling working-class family who live in a small apartment.
The film focuses on the relationships between these three families. At the center of the story is a love triangle between Margaret Schlegel (Thompson), Henry Wilcox (Hopkins), and Leonard Bast (Sam West). Margaret and Henry are both attracted to each other, but Henry is married and Margaret is engaged to Leonard.
The film follows the characters as they grapple with issues of class, love, and loyalty. As the story progresses, Margaret and Henry’s relationship deepens, and Leonard’s struggles with poverty become increasingly
