How Many Profiles Can You Have On Netflix [2023]

Profiles are a great way of customizing your Netflix recommendations. Depending on your Netflix search history and viewing preferences, Netflix’s algorithm recommends and suggests shows and movies tailor-made for your viewing on your profile.

But how many profiles can you have on Netflix? Find out the profile limit on Netflix and the plans which support the maximum number of devices for simultaneous screening.

What Is the Profile Limit On Netflix?

how much profiles can you have on netflix

At max, you can have 5 profiles per Netflix account.

These can be either Kids’ profiles or normal ones. You can delete accounts or add new ones. But as you delete a profile, the Netflix viewing history along with suggestions and recommendations linked to that account will also disappear.

Even though Netflix allows 5 profiles per account, that doesn’t mean 5 people can use the account at the same time. The number of people who can watch Netflix at once varies based on your subscription.

The provision of profiles allows users of different viewing preferences to use the same account without messing with the recommendation of other users. Netflix’s algorithm provides suggestions depending on the type of movies and series you watch.

A single user can also use multiple profiles. If you enjoy streaming content in multiple dialects, you can use different profiles for each dialect. This way your movie recommendations from one profile won’t impact the other.

How Many Devices Can Be Logged Into Netflix?

Depending on your plan, your account will have a device limit. That means at any point in time a fixed number of people can access your account.

If you go for a Basic plan, only one user can stream from your Netflix account. Even if you have Netflix installed on multiple devices only one user will be able to stream Netflix at a time.

With a Standard Plan up to two users can use your Netflix account. If you feel like sharing your account with more friends, a Premium Plan will let you share your account with 4 users. That means you can stream Netflix on four screens simultaneously.

If more users use your account than your plan supports, the last user will get an error message saying “Too many people are using your account right now.” Followed by the devices the users are using to stream and the content they are watching.

So, the Premium Plan supports the most logged-in users. 4 users can stream simultaneously using a Premium plan whereas a Basic plan will only support one logged-in device.

What Are the Different Netflix Plans?

Netflix offers three different plans

  • Basic Plan for $9.99
  • Standard Plan for $15.99
  • Premium Plan for $19.99

These are monthly plans. With the basic plan, you can stream on one screen while the standard and premium offer screening on 2 and 4 screens at a time. By signing up for the standard plan, you can watch HD titles. But if you are looking for Ultra HD content, you have to go for the Premium plan.

How to Sign Out Other Users Who Are Using Your Account?

how to sign out other users who are using your account on netflix

If you share your Netflix account with others and suddenly get the “Too many people are using the account error”, you can kick out other users. But there is no subtle way of doing it.

You have to sign out all users from all devices who are using your account details. To do so –

  • Log into Netflix with your username and password
  • From the Home screen click on the account logo at the top right corner.
  • Click on Accounts
  • In the accounts page under the settings section, you will see the Sign out of all devices link.
  • Click on it and you and all users using your account will be signed out from their respective devices.
  • Now you can sign back in and start streaming
  • If you want to kick out other users, simply change the password. Now no one will be able to sign into your account.

Currently, there is no way of signing out selected users from Netflix. You have to sign out all users and then share your account details with those with whom you want to share your Netflix account.

So there you have it: The number of profiles you can have on Netflix doesn’t depend on your subscription and is fixed at 5.

However, the number of permissible logged-in devices depends on your subscription. The Basic plan user can have only one logged-in device while a user with a Premium Plan can stream Netflix on up to 4 devices simultaneously.

Get a VPN to Access All Netflix Libraries (Bypass Geo-Blocking)

Netflix is good. Netflix without ads is better. Netflix without ads and without regional restrictions is best.

Netflix has extensive digital libraries, with regional content worth watching. You can unlock all that with a good VPN. We recommend NordVPN and ExpressVPN as the best VPNs to watch Netflix.

Here’s what you need to do after you set up Netflix.

  • Get NordVPN or ExpressVPN. (Custom discounts with these links for our readers!)
  • Connect to the best server from any Netflix-supported region.
  • Watch Netflix Ad-free. Enjoy Geo-restricted content too!
