Synopsis – What to Expect from “Honey Boy”
Honey Boy is a 2019 drama film directed by Alma Har’el and written by Shia LaBeouf, based on his own experiences. It stars Shia LaBeouf, Lucas Hedges, Noah Jupe, and FKA Twigs.
The film follows Otis Lort (Shia LaBeouf), a troubled child actor growing up in Hollywood. He is struggling to cope with his father’s (LaBeouf) neglect and his own childhood trauma. In an effort to help him cope, Otis is sent to a rehabilitation center, where he meets Dr. Moreno (FKA Twigs).
At the rehab center, Otis begins to open up about his life and his relationship with his father. He reveals that his father, a former rodeo clown, is an alcoholic who is often abusive and neglectful. Despite his father’s behavior, Otis still loves him and is desperate to have his father’s approval.
The film follows Otis as he attempts to navigate his relationships with his father, his rehab counselors, and his new friends. Through his journey, he discovers the importance of self-love and acceptance. He learns to forgive his father and to accept himself for who he is.
At the end of the film, Otis is reunited with his father, and the two are able to reconcile. Otis is able to move on from his past and begin to build a better future for
