Holding the Man is a 2015 Australian romantic drama film directed by Neil Armfield, adapted from Timothy Conigrave’s 1995 memoir of the same name. It stars Ryan Corr and Craig Stott as its lead characters, Tim Conigrave and John Caleo, respectively.
The movie follows the true story of Tim and John, two young men who meet in 1976 at a Catholic school in Melbourne, Australia. They become close friends and eventually fall in love, despite the opposition of their families and society. The film follows their relationship through the years, as they face the struggles of coming out, the AIDS epidemic, and the challenges of a long-term relationship.
