Synopsis/Plot
High School Musical is a 2006 American musical television film and the first installment in the High School Musical trilogy. Directed by Kenny Ortega, it was the first Disney Channel Original Movie to be filmed and released in the High Definition format. The movie follows the story of Troy Bolton, a high school student and basketball star, and Gabriella Montez, a shy transfer student who discover their mutual love of singing. With the help of their friends, they audition for the school’s upcoming musical and must face off against the school’s top performers, Sharpay and Ryan Evans.
The musical features a variety of popular songs, including the hit single “Breaking Free”, which became the most successful song from the movie.
