Synopsis/Plot
Hereafter is a 2010 drama film directed, co-produced, and co-written by Clint Eastwood. It stars Matt Damon, Cecile De France, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The story follows three people who are affected in different ways by death. Matt Damon plays a former psychic who has given up his gift after a near-death experience. Cecile De France plays a French journalist who is nearly killed in a tsunami and begins to question the existence of an afterlife. Bryce Dallas Howard plays a young American woman who is struggling to cope with the death of her twin brother.
The movie focuses on the three characters as they each come to terms with death in their own way. Matt Damon’s character is reluctant to use his psychic powers to help people, but eventually he comes to realize that his gift can be used to help others. Cecile De France’s character discovers that there is more to life than what we can see and begins to explore the possibility of an afterlife. Bryce Dallas Howard’s character struggles to find a way to connect with her brother after his death and eventually finds solace in her faith.
