Synopsis/Plot
Here Comes the Boom is a 2012 American comedy-drama film directed by Frank Coraci and starring Kevin James, Salma Hayek, and Henry Winkler. The film follows Scott Voss (James), a biology teacher at a failing high school who takes up mixed martial arts as a way to raise money to save the school’s music program.
Scott is a bored and uninspired biology teacher who has been teaching the same material for years and is not taken seriously by his students. When the school’s budget is cut and the music program is threatened with elimination, Scott decides to raise money by becoming a mixed martial arts fighter. He enlists the help of his friend, former MMA fighter Niko (Bas Rutten), who reluctantly agrees to train him.
Scott’s first fight is a disaster, but he eventually learns to fight and gains the respect of his students and his peers. With the help of his student, Marty (Greg Germann), and his principal, Bella (Salma Hayek), Scott is able to raise enough money to save the music program.
Throughout the film, Scott learns to fight and to believe in himself, and he also learns to appreciate the importance of music in his students’
