Synopsis – What to Expect from “Hello I Must Be Going”
Hello I Must Be Going is a 2012 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Todd Louiso and written by Sarah Koskoff.
The film follows Amy Minsky (Melanie Lynskey), a recently divorced thirty-something woman who moves back in with her parents in suburban Connecticut. Amy is stuck in a rut of self-pity and depression, until she meets a teenage boy named Jeremy (Christopher Abbott) who lives next door. Jeremy is an aspiring filmmaker and the two quickly develop a strong bond, which helps Amy to rediscover her spark for life.
As Amy and Jeremy grow closer, her parents (Blythe Danner and John Rubinstein) become increasingly worried about the age difference between the two. Despite their objections, Amy and Jeremy continue to spend time together, and even share their first kiss.
Things become more complicated when Jeremy’s father, Stan (Jim Gaffigan), begins to show an interest in Amy. Stan is a successful businessman who seems to have it all, and Amy finds herself torn between her feelings for Jeremy and her growing attraction to Stan.
Ultimately, Amy must decide which path to take; to stay in her comfort zone and continue living with her parents, or to take a chance on love and follow her heart. With the help of her friends and family, Amy ultimately discovers the courage to take a leap of faith and make a fresh start.
