Synopsis – What to Expect from “Gummo”
Gummo is a 1997 American drama film written and directed by Harmony Korine. The film follows the lives of several people in the small town of Xenia, Ohio, which was devastated by a tornado in the 1970s.
The film follows two teenage boys, Tummler (Jacob Reynolds) and Solomon (Jacob Sewell), who spend their days wandering around town, playing pranks, and getting into trouble. The boys meet a strange girl named Dot (Chloe Sevigny) and take her home to their trailer park.
The boys also meet a strange old man named Bunny (Nick Sutton), who works as a catfish hunter and sells his catch to local restaurants. Bunny is also a hoarder, and his trailer is filled with junk and cats.
The boys also meet a young girl named Darby (Carisa Glucksman), who has been abandoned by her parents. The boys take her in and form a makeshift family.
Meanwhile, a young girl named Helen (Lara Tosh) is being abused by her father. The boys decide to help her by getting her away from her father.
Meanwhile, a group of local teens, led by the aggressive and violent Tag (Jacob Reynolds), terrorize the town. They vandalize property, beat up people, and even commit murder.
As the boys try to help Helen, they become increasingly involved in the violence of the town.
