Synopsis – What to Expect from “Gringo”
Gringo is an action-comedy film starring David Oyelowo as a mild-mannered American businessman named Harold Soyinka. Harold is sent to Mexico on a work assignment, and while there he finds himself embroiled in a drug cartel’s scheme to smuggle drugs across the border.
The story begins with Harold in Chicago, where he is working for a pharmaceutical company run by his friend Richard Rusk (Joel Edgerton). Harold is sent to Mexico to oversee the launch of a new product, but when he arrives he discovers that the company is actually a front for a drug cartel. Harold quickly finds himself in way over his head as he is kidnapped by the cartel and forced to do their bidding.
Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Richard and his business partner Elaine Markinson (Charlize Theron) are trying to figure out where the drug money is coming from. They enlist the help of a shady private investigator, Miles (Amanda Seyfried), to track down Harold and get to the bottom of the mystery.
In Mexico, Harold must use all of his ingenuity to outwit the cartel and survive long enough to make it back to the United States. Along the way, he meets a local woman, Amelia (Thandie Newton), who helps him navigate the dangerous world of the drug trade.
The story culminates with Harold and Amelia fighting off the cartel and making it back to the United States. With the help
