Synopsis/Plot
Greenberg is a 2010 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Ben Stiller, Greta Gerwig, Rhys Ifans, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film follows Roger Greenberg (Stiller), a middle-aged man who moves to Los Angeles to house-sit for his brother. While there, Greenberg attempts to reconnect with his former bandmate, Ivan (Ifans), and begins a relationship with his brother’s assistant, Florence (Gerwig).
The film follows Greenberg as he struggles to find his place in the world, and ultimately comes to terms with the consequences of his decisions. Greenberg’s journey is both comedic and heartbreaking, as he attempts to find solace in a city that is constantly in flux. Through his interactions with Ivan, Florence, and other characters, Greenberg is forced to confront his own inner demons and ultimately makes peace with his past.
Greenberg is a deeply personal and introspective film, exploring themes of loneliness, regret, and the search for meaning in life. The film is beautifully shot, featuring stunning visuals of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. The performances by Stiller, Gerwig, Ifans, and Leigh are all top-notch
