Synopsis – What to Expect from “Green Card”
Green Card is a romantic comedy released in 1990 that follows the story of Bronte Parrish (Gerard Depardieu), an illegal immigrant from France who is desperate to stay in the United States. In order to do so, he agrees to marry a fellow immigrant, Georgina (Andie MacDowell), who is a single mother and needs a green card to stay in the country.
The two forge a marriage of convenience and Bronte moves in with Georgina and her daughter. Despite their initial animosity, Bronte and Georgina soon become friends and develop a strong bond. Bronte helps Georgina with her career and Georgina helps Bronte to adjust to life in the United States.
As their relationship develops, Bronte and Georgina fall in love. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that they are still legally married. In order to be together, Bronte must find a way to get a green card.
In the end, Bronte manages to get a green card and the two are able to be together. The film ends with Bronte and Georgina happily married and living together in the United States.
