Synopsis – What to Expect from “Gothic”
Gothic is a 1986 British horror film directed by Ken Russell and starring Gabriel Byrne, Julian Sands, Natasha Richardson, and Myriam Cyr.
The film is set in the early 19th century and follows a group of English poets and friends, including Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne) and Percy Shelley (Julian Sands), as they gather at the Villa Diodati in Switzerland to spend the summer.
The group’s conversations soon turn to the supernatural and they begin to explore their own fears and fantasies. As the night wears on, the group is visited by a mysterious figure, who appears to be a ghostly manifestation of Mary Shelley’s (Natasha Richardson) novel Frankenstein.
The figure warns the group of a great evil that is coming and tells them that they must be prepared to face it. As the group grows increasingly fearful, they soon discover that the evil they are facing is in fact the spirit of a woman who was murdered by her husband, and who is now seeking revenge on the living.
The group must now face the spirit and try to put an end to her reign of terror before it is too late. Gothic is a thrilling and suspenseful horror film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
