Synopsis/Plot
Goon is an outrageous and heartwarming comedy about an unlikely hockey hero. Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott), a slacker from Massachusetts, is an unlikely hockey player. He is unable to play the game well, but his fighting skills make him an invaluable asset to the Halifax Highlanders, a minor league hockey team. Doug quickly finds himself in the middle of a rivalry between two of the team’s top players, Ross Rhea (Liev Schreiber) and Xavier LaFlamme (Marc-André Grondin).
The team’s new coach, an ex-NHL player named LaFlamme, puts Doug in charge of keeping Ross in line. Doug soon becomes the team’s enforcer, protecting his teammates from the other team’s goons. He also finds himself in a romantic relationship with Eva (Alison Pill), a hockey fan who works at the local bar.
As the Highlanders make their way to the championship game, Doug’s fighting skills become more important than ever. He must protect his teammates from the other team’s goons, as well as stand up to Ross, who is determined to take out Doug and the Highlanders.
