Synopsis – What to Expect from “Gloria Bell”
Gloria Bell is a 2019 Chilean-American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Sebastián Lelio and starring Julianne Moore as the title character.
Gloria Bell is a free-spirited divorcee living in Los Angeles who loves to go out dancing. She meets Arnold (John Turturro), a man also recently divorced, and they quickly fall in love. However, Gloria soon discovers that Arnold is still dealing with the pain of his past relationship and is not ready for a new one.
Gloria’s daughter, Anne (Caren Pistorius), is worried about her mother’s newfound relationship and encourages her to be more independent. Gloria takes her advice and begins to explore her own interests, including painting and taking classes.
Gloria and Arnold’s relationship continues to struggle, and they eventually break up. Gloria is left feeling heartbroken and confused. She finds solace in her newfound independence and begins to find joy in her life without Arnold.
Gloria eventually meets a new man, Rodolfo (Ricardo Darín), and they start to form a connection. However, Gloria’s past with Arnold still lingers in the back of her mind. She must decide if she is ready to take a chance on a new relationship or if she should remain alone.
