Synopsis/Plot
Girls Trip is a 2017 American comedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee and written by Kenya Barris & Tracy Oliver. It stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish as four friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival.
The film follows four lifelong friends, Ryan, Sasha, Lisa, and Dina, who are all approaching middle age and have gone their separate ways. Ryan is a successful author and media personality, Sasha is a single mother struggling to make ends meet, Lisa is a married mother of two who’s feeling neglected, and Dina is an outrageous wild child. When Ryan invites the ladies to join her in New Orleans for the Essence Festival, they jump at the chance to rekindle their friendship and have the wildest weekend of their lives.
The four women set out on a wild and hilarious adventure, full of outrageous parties, wild dancing, and over-the-top antics. Along the way, they confront their issues and learn to appreciate each other for who they are. They also experience the city’s vibrant nightlife and culture, and ultimately learn that true friendship can get you through anything.
