Synopsis/Plot
Ghostbusters is a 1984 American supernatural comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The film stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, and Ernie Hudson as a group of eccentric scientists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City. After the members of the ghost-catching team lose their jobs at a university, they form the Ghostbusters, a business devoted to ridding the city of paranormal activity.
The Ghostbusters soon become the talk of the town, and their success leads to a surge in supernatural activity. They are soon called upon to save the city from an ancient evil spirit known as Gozer, who has beenreleased from a temple hidden beneath the city. With the help of a mysterious spirit guide, the Ghostbusters are able to defeat the spirit and save the city. The film was a major success, grossing more than $300 million at the box office. It spawned a sequel, Ghostbusters II, and an animated television series, The Real Ghostbusters. The film has become a cult classic and is considered one of the greatest comedies of all time.
