Synopsis – What to Expect from “Getting Even with Dad”
Getting Even with Dad is a 1994 family comedy starring Macaulay Culkin, Ted Danson, and Glenne Headly. It follows the story of Timmy (Culkin), a young boy who is desperate to get to know his dad, Ray (Danson), who abandoned him and his mom years ago. Timmy’s mom, Maggie (Headly), is not happy about this, but Timmy is determined to find a way to get Ray back into their lives.
Timmy’s plan is to get Ray to come to San Francisco to take part in a father-son fishing trip. With the help of his best friend, Stu (Joshua Jackson), Timmy hatches a plan to steal $100,000 from Ray’s safe. But when Ray discovers the theft, he decides to use the money as bait to lure Timmy into a scheme to rob a jewelry store.
With the help of Maggie and Stu, Timmy and Ray are able to pull off the heist. But when Ray is arrested, Timmy is forced to confront the fact that his father is a criminal. Despite this, Timmy and Ray form a bond as Ray helps him to understand the importance of family and forgiveness. In the end, Ray and Maggie are reunited and Ray is able to make amends with Timmy and his mother.
