Synopsis/Plot
Geronimo: An American Legend is a 1993 American Western film directed and produced by Walter Hill and starring Wes Studi, Jason Patric, Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall, and Matt Damon. The film tells the story of the Apache leader Geronimo and his fight for freedom from the U.S. government in the late 19th century. The movie follows Geronimo and his small band of followers as they fight to keep their traditional way of life and resist the U.S. government’s attempts to force them onto reservations. The movie shows the struggles of Geronimo and his people as they fight for their freedom and their right to remain on their ancestral lands.
The movie begins in 1876, when the U.S. government forces the Apache people onto reservations. Geronimo and his followers refuse to comply and flee to the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico. The U.S. government sends a large force of soldiers to capture them, but Geronimo and his followers prove to be too elusive. As the movie progresses, we see Geronimo’s attempts to negotiate with the U.S. government, as well as his struggles to keep his people safe from the soldiers.
