Synopsis – What to Expect from “Genova”
Genova is a dramatic film about a family dealing with grief, loss, and a new beginning. Joe and Mary are a married couple with two daughters, Kelly and Mary. Joe has recently lost his job and Mary has left her job to take care of their two young daughters.
The family moves to Genova, Italy, in search of a new start. Joe finds a job teaching English and Mary takes a job as a housekeeper for an elderly woman. They move into a small apartment and try to adjust to their new life.
The family struggles to find their place in Genova, and Joe and Mary’s relationship begins to suffer. They are both dealing with the grief of their past and the stress of their new situation.
Kelly and Mary, meanwhile, explore their new city and make friends with some of the local children. They also become fascinated with a mysterious old woman who lives nearby.
The family’s struggles come to a head when Mary discovers that the old woman is actually Joe’s first wife, who died many years ago. Joe and Mary must confront their past and decide how to move forward.
