Synopsis/Plot
Gasoline Alley is a 1951 American comedy-drama film directed by Lesley Selander and starring John Payne, Rhonda Fleming, and Charles Coburn. The film follows the story of a drifter named ‘Speed’ (John Payne) who finds himself in a small town called Gasoline Alley. He quickly makes friends with the locals, including a young girl named Amy (Rhonda Fleming) and her grandfather (Charles Coburn). Speed falls in love with Amy and decides to stay in the town, taking a job at the local gas station. The town is soon threatened by a corrupt land developer and Speed must use his wits and courage to save his new home. Along the way, he discovers the true meaning of friendship,family, and loyalty. With the help of his new friends, Speed is able to protect the town from the developer’s schemes and win the heart of Amy. The film ends with Speed and Amy happily married and living in Gasoline Alley.
