Synopsis – What to Expect from “Gambit”
Gambit is a 1966 British comedy-drama film starring Shirley MacLaine and Michael Caine.
The film follows the story of Harry Dean (Michael Caine), a rough-around-the-edges British con artist who is hired by an eccentric millionaire, Mr. Shahbandar (Herbert Lom), to swindle an art collector out of a priceless antique. Harry teams up with a beautiful and clever femme fatale, Nicole (Shirley MacLaine), to carry out the scheme.
The plan is to pose as an art expert and convince the collector, Emile Bonnaud (Paul Stassino), to sell them a fake painting. However, things become more complicated when a real art expert (Ronald Fraser) arrives to authenticate the painting. With the stakes higher than ever, Harry and Nicole must find a way to pull off the con and get away with the loot.
The film follows the twists and turns of the con as Harry and Nicole try to outsmart the art collector and the art expert. Along the way, they must also deal with the eccentric and unpredictable Mr. Shahbandar, who is determined to get a piece of the action.
