So many users have decided to “cut the cord” by switching over to popular TV streaming services of their choice. Statistics hold that by 2022 about 51% of Americans would have switched over to streaming TV services. Some honorable mentions in this category are Hulu, YouTube TV, and FuboTV.
In this article, we would be giving a proper FuboTV review so you have a bird’s-eye view of what FuboTV is all about and if it is worth your money.
What is FuboTV?
FuboTV first started as a Football (soccer) streaming service only on 1st January 2015.
In 2017, it switched over to all-sports services before eventually moving over to comprehensive TV streaming services. It offers over 100 channels in almost all categories, including entertainment, news, sports, and much more, really giving cable TV a run for their money.
It is available in the United States, Canada and recently got into Spain in 2018.
FuboTV claims to have about 500,000 subscribers and recently dragged in a $100 million quarterly revenue for the first time. From all ramifications, FuboTV is on the rise, and it is worth it.
You can see this from the number of excellent stations and channels it offers, its video quality, how tall it stands when compared with its competition.
No doubt, FuboTV is quite pricey, but after going through its features, its different plans, add-ons, and much more, you’ll agree it is worth it. FuboTV takes the spot as the first streaming service to offer 4K HDR pictures.
It is perfect for streaming the World Cup tournament since it is predominantly a sports streaming service. It struck again by coming second as the streaming services to provide content through the Apple TV app on iDevices.
Fubottv Review: Interface
FuboTV is available for mobile devices, desktop computers, laptops, and web browsers. The interface is quite presentable, and it wouldn’t take you much time to get conversant with it.
This part of our FuboTV review would discuss how the web interface and mobile interface look like; you can read what to expect.
Although this can’t be compared to having a first-hand experience of FuboTV, it would still be enough to help you decide if you should go for FuboTV or not.
What the web version looks like
FuboTV web interface is pretty user-friendly. Its prevalent colors are black, grey, and white, with an orange accent coming in at intervals to help emphasize some aspect of the screen.
The top menu bar features six tabs: Home, Sport, Shows, Movies, Guide, and Recordings.
Sports: It consists of video content relating to sports. It could be live sports events, Top leagues, sports tournaments, and other sports-related events.
The Sports tab shows you a sub-menu containing different sports like Soccer, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Golf; never forget FuboTV is popularly known as a Sports streaming TV.
Home: This tab consists of different sections like 4k on Demand, Live TV, Live Sports, Popular Shows, and Popular movies; it is somewhat a list of what is happening in the various other categories.
Movies/Shows: Though FuboTV is popularly known as a Sports TV, it doesn’t however fall short in the movies and entertainment domain. Here you can find a considerable amount of movies and shows to pick from. The search and genre feature is a way to navigate around here.
Guide: This tab is somewhat similar to what you’ll see on your typical cable TV. It is a list of channels arranged in a grid format with networks arranged vertically and horizontally. The Guide section doesn’t offer the Lookback content feature; just the Sports tab has this.
The channels here aren’t arranged alphabetically or numbered, so this may turn off many users. However, after using FuboTV for a while, you’ll find it relatively easy to understand the channel part of it.
Leaving out the numbering system is also understandable when you consider that media streaming devices like Amazon Fire Stick, Roku Ultra, and others lack remotes with numbers.Â

Recording: This tab is a collection of recordings arranged in large thumbnails and organized into a list structure. With the search feature, you can dig out your recordings based on title, league, channel, or team; a feature we would have loved is to search based on date.
To make things easier, the recordings are arranged based on their categories; Sports contain sports recordings, Shows for show recordings, and Movies for movie recordings.
Mobile interface
You can enjoy FuboTV from your mobile devices too, and it is available on both Android and iOS devices. Visit your device’s app store and get the FuboTV mobile application.
You won’t break a sweat to sign-in on the mobile app; it then seeks permission to access your location; this is quite normal with these types of services.
You should avoid using the app with a VPN as you may encounter issues.
The slide in the left-hand menu allows you to switch between profiles, displaying some of your account details. The app is pretty limited; you can’t manage your subscriptions or add-ons, not even control your closed caption preferences or customize your video streaming quality.
The content categories can be accessed by scrolling horizontally. At one end, you get all available channels to watch, and the other lists display upcoming sporting events.
It also shows popular shows, trending content like Worth Binging, 4k On Demand, and popular Showtime.
At the bottom of the screen are the Home, Sport, Entertainment, Guide, and Recording tabs. These tabs perform similar functions to their web version.
With the Sports tab containing sporting events and events related to sports, the Entertainment section is a combination of Shows and Movies, which have their respective tabs on the web interface.
The Guide and Recording tabs are similar to what you have in the web version.

FuboTV Review: Available Features
Aside from FuboTV’s long list of channels, it also contains so many juicy features, as you’ll see below.
1. DVR
FuboTV DVR feature is one fantastic feature subscribers have access to. With this, users can review live programs, while it is being aired or before airing.
The family bundle offers 250 hours of cloud recording, while an upgradeable add-on offers 1000 hours for a certain amount. This may come off as big for most people and not enough for others.
For the record, YouTube TV and Philo offer unlimited cloud storage while Hulu + Live TV offers 50 hours of recording that can be stored for an indefinite time; AT&T TV Now provides 20 hours of recording that can be stored for 30 days only.
Sling TV gives just 10 hours while Locast doesn’t offer any DVR capabilities.
Lookback and Start over
The Lookback and Start over features are another part of FuboTV that makes it attractive. This feature (Lookback) allows subscribers to watch any sporting event they missed in the last 72 hours.
To access it, they have to click the calendar icon (exclusive to the Sports section) and retrace to the original streamed date, provided it was 72 hours ago.
There’s a visible watch button there. The DVR feature can’t be used here as recording isn’t allowed. Not all of FuboTV’s channels support this feature; a representative confirmed that 136 channels support it, in any case.
On the other hand, the Start over feature gives users the capability to restart live broadcasts from the beginning without considering when they started watching it!
So, if you would be late for your favorite team’s football match, you can drive home carefully because you would still be able to start the live show from the beginning.
To use it, all the subscribers have to do is drag the progress bar back to where they want to start watching from. We could use this feature as a rewind feature which is common in VCRs.
Note, this feature like Lookback isn’t available for all channels.
Profiles and other features
With these services, you can create up to six profiles just like Netflix or Youtube TV, each having its unique customizations.
It also supports close captions but doesn’t give users the option to customize its appearance.
Rewind
Besides the playback controls we are used to, FuboTV offers a 15-seconds rewind and fast-forward option. This is a bit different from the Start over feature.
Most features found on the web interface playback can be found on mobile devices; however, the mini-player option (Picture-in-Picture PiP mode) and the favorite button can’t be found there.
Streaming Resolution
It is more common to find the basic 720p resolution on most channels, which may come off as disappointing, although its picture quality is fantastic, FuboTV’s popular on-demand contents are often in a 1080p resolution.
Far back in the article, we recognized FuboTV’s ability to secure the renowned 4k stream; it came first and remained one of the few live video streaming platforms to support it. You can see more details about the 4k stream feature here (see the list of events available in 4k).
Streaming 4k contents come at a cost; your internet speed must have at least a 25Mbps download speed to have a seamless stream time and avoid annoying buffering.
Currently, just a number shy of 130 channels can stream in 4k. Your device needs to be compatible too. They claim devices like Apple TV 4k, Chromecast Ultra, FireTV 4k, FireTV Cube, Roku (Ultra, Premier, Premier +), and Android devices. Another downside about a 4k streaming is, one can’t record it.
Streaming on multiple devices
FuboTV allows users to stream simultaneously on three devices by default. However, specific plans or add-ons will enable you to stream on more than three devices, often allowing you to stream on five to ten devices concurrently.
Mobile streaming
Streaming via FuboTV on your mobile device isn’t bad at all; streaming content in 1080p resolution demands up to 10Mbps download speed. When streaming with mobile devices, you should avoid using your cellular network, which could incur high costs.
Channels on FuboTV
It is an undebatable fact that FuboTV is predominantly a sport streaming TV; its history can attest to that.
Although being predominantly a sports TV, it still doesn’t fall short in other categories. You can enjoy quality TV time in the Comedy industry, Life and Style, Entertainment, and News industry.
In all of these categories, FuboTV has many channels to keep one glued to their seats.
Your location would also play a significant role in the channels you’ll have access to, especially local and national networks like CBS, NBC, CNBC, Fox, and many others.
In the Sports world, FuboTV gives you sports channels like NBA TV, NBC Sports Network, NFL Network, The Golf Chanel. Internationally, it features sports channels like GOL TV, TUDN, beIN Sports.
Recently FuboTV and Disney struck a deal that adds some more sports channels like ESPN, ESPN2, ACC Network, and SEC Network.
Back then, FuboTV was missing out with ESPN, and it was something that downgraded FuboTV, especially with die-hard sports fans; now it is present on it.
You can also enjoy the renowned Monday Night Football and its flagship sports show.
Regional Sports Networks (RSN) are channels exclusive to specific localities; MSG and SNY are examples of RSNs. Getting access to these channels depends on your locality.
Like the usual cable TVs and other live streaming services, some sports leagues decides what teams are broadcasted in each locality. You can read more about this here.
In the Entertainment world, FuboTV offers a wide range of options to pick from. There’s Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and Nat Geo Wild for people like me obsessed with nature and discoveries.
It also has Food Network, AMC, FX, HGTV, SYFY, The Weather Channel. The kids aren’t left out as Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Nickelodeon, Universal Kids, and Nick Jr. are a snippet of what you can find on FuboTV.
You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings around you and globally by streaming News from stations like ABC News Live, BBC, CBSN, NBC, and many more.
The News world’s financial part has channels like CNBC, Cheddar Business, and Fox Business; all these channels are available on FuboTV.
FuboTV would surely deliver; you would be getting access to over 100 channels, which also depends on your locality, the add-on, and the FuboTV plan.

FuboTV pricing varies with the plan. The usual FuboTV Ultra and Standard plan have been taken off; the company now offers three plans: Starter (Family) Plan, Elite Plan, and FuboTV Latino.

They are also international add-ons like International Sports Plus at $6.99 per month and RAI Plus at $7.99 per month.
A channel package like Sports Plus is perfect for great sports fans, as it consists of channels like ESPNews, ESPN U, NFL RedZone, NBA TV, and others, all these for just $10.99.
Can I use VPN with FuboTV?
No, you can’t. Accessing the site might be possible, especially if you used the VPN from a country that doesn’t have FuboTV; before you try streaming, FuboTV often points out you are using a VPN and demands to you switch it off before you stream.
While setting up FuboTV, it’s common for it to seek permission to access your location; this is quite common with streaming TVs; it enables them to optimize your channel list to fit your locality.
Final Verdict
This FuboTV review broke down in detail everything you needed to know about FuboTV. FuboTV is barely six years old, yet it has gathered for itself a considerable amount of loyal users who have given nothing but positive reviews about it.
FuboTV offers its users access to hundreds of channels in high resolutions, including the famous 4k. FuboTV 250 hour cloud DVR is one of the highest of any streaming services out here while also offering add-ons for up to 1000 hours.
FuboTV predominantly appeals to sports fans but doesn’t still leave out “awesomeness” in other industries. Currently available for USA, Canada, and Spain users, FuboTV is a good streaming TV to go for.
