Synopsis – What to Expect from “From Prada to Nada”
From Prada to Nada is a 2011 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Angel Gracia. The movie follows two sisters, Nora and Mary, from an upper-class Mexican-American family living in Los Angeles.
Nora (Camilla Belle) is a law student who is engaged to a wealthy lawyer. Mary (Alexa Vega) is a free-spirited artist who dreams of becoming a famous singer.
When their father passes away, Nora and Mary are left with nothing but their family home and a pile of debt. To make matters worse, their stepmother (Adriana Barraza) is a cruel and heartless woman who kicks them out of the house. With no other options, the sisters move in with their aunt (Liz Gallardo) in East Los Angeles.
At first, Nora and Mary struggle to adjust to their new lives in a low-income neighborhood. But with the help of their aunt, they soon learn to appreciate the true value of family and friendship.
The sisters also find romance in their new lives. Nora falls for a charming doctor (Nicholas D’Agosto) and Mary meets a handsome musician (Wilmer Valderrama).
As Nora and Mary’s lives start to change, they must also face the reality of their family’s financial situation. With the help of their aunt and newfound friends, they come up with a plan to save their family home.
