Synopsis – What to Expect from “Fritz the Cat”
Fritz the Cat is a 1972 American adult animated comedy film written and directed by Ralph Bakshi. It is based on the Fritz the Cat comic strips by Robert Crumb and stars Skip Hinnant as the voice of Fritz.
The film follows the misadventures of Fritz, a feline anti-hero who is a “hipster” in the 1960s counterculture of the United States. Fritz is a college student in New York City who spends his time engaging in activities such as recreational drug use, casual sex, and political protests.
The film begins with Fritz attending a protest against the Vietnam War. After the protest, Fritz meets a group of radicals who invite him to a “be-in” in Central Park. At the be-in, Fritz meets a female cat named Winston and they become friends.
Fritz and Winston soon become involved in a series of misadventures, including a failed attempt to rob a bank, a run-in with the police, and a wild party. Meanwhile, Fritz’s college professor is trying to seduce him.
Eventually, Fritz and Winston are arrested and put in jail. They escape and end up in a hippie commune in the countryside. There, Fritz meets a group of radical revolutionaries who want to overthrow the government.
Fritz decides to help them but soon realizes that their plan is doomed to fail. He decides to leave the commune and return to the city, where
