Synopsis/Plot
Frankenhooker is a 1990 American horror comedy film written and directed by Frank Henenlotter. The film follows Jeffrey Franken, a medical school dropout who attempts to bring his fiancée Elizabeth Shelley back to life after she is killed in a freak accident. To do this, Jeffrey uses parts from various prostitutes, creating a Frankenstein-like creature.
The film begins with Jeffrey and Elizabeth’s engagement announcement. However, shortly after, Elizabeth is killed in a freak accident involving a lawnmower. Grief-stricken, Jeffrey decides to bring her back to life using parts from various prostitutes. He visits a street corner in New York City and collects the parts he needs. Jeffrey then uses his medical knowledge to create a new, Frankenstein-like creature.
The creature, now named “Frankenhooker,” is brought to life, but is far from perfect. She has an uncontrollable appetite for sex and a tendency to explode when angered. Jeffrey must now find a way to control her and make her more human.
Frankenhooker is a dark comedy that blends horror and comedy elements. The film has a cult following and has been praised for its campy humor and over-the-top
