Synopsis – What to Expect from “Fort Apache, the Bronx”
Fort Apache, The Bronx is a 1981 American crime drama film directed by Daniel Petrie and starring Paul Newman, Edward Asner, and Ken Wahl. The story follows the day-to-day lives of two police officers, Murphy (Newman) and Corelli (Asner), as they patrol the crime-ridden South Bronx.
The film begins with Murphy and Corelli patrolling the streets of the South Bronx, a neighborhood plagued by poverty and crime. They witness a gang fight, and while trying to break it up, Murphy is stabbed. Later, Murphy and Corelli investigate a series of murders in the neighborhood, and begin to suspect that it is connected to a local drug dealer.
Meanwhile, Murphy’s wife, Mary (Rachel Ticotin) is struggling to keep their family afloat. Murphy’s teenage son, Jimmy (Danny Aiello), is getting into trouble, and Mary is worried about the influence of the gangs on him. She is also concerned about Murphy’s safety, as he is often in dangerous situations.
When Murphy and Corelli finally track down the drug dealer, they find he is connected to a powerful mob boss. Murphy and Corelli are determined to bring him to justice, but they must first get past the mob’s hired thugs. In a daring move, they enlist the help of the local gangs to help them take down the mob boss.
In the end, Murphy and Corelli succeed in bringing the mob boss
