Synopsis – What to Expect from “Flower”
Flower is a dark comedy-drama set in suburban Los Angeles. It follows the story of 17-year-old Erica Vandross (Zoey Deutch), an angry, rebellious teen who is trying to deal with her troubled home life. Her mother is an alcoholic, her father is absent, and her stepdad (Adam Scott) is a sleazy car salesman.
Erica discovers that she has a knack for manipulating people, especially men, and begins to use her talents to extort money from her stepdad’s unsuspecting customers. With the money she earns, she sets out to start her own business and help her family.
While she is busy with her scheme, Erica meets two people who will change her life: her neighbor, a lesbian ex-convict named Claudine (Kathryn Hahn), and her stepdad’s son, Luke (Joey Morgan). Luke is a troubled young man with a dark past, and Erica finds herself drawn to him.
As Erica continues to grow closer to Luke, she also begins to understand the power of her own emotions, and how they can be used for good or bad. She soon learns that she can’t keep running away from her problems, and must face them head on.
Flower is a coming-of-age story about a young girl who learns to take control of her own life, and use her own power to help those around her. Along the way,
