Synopsis – What to Expect from “Flicka”
Flicka is the story of 15-year-old Katy McLaughlin, a strong-willed teenager who has been raised on her family’s Wyoming horse ranch. After her father, Rob, is injured in a rodeo accident, Katy takes it upon herself to prove she can run the ranch, and decides to tame a wild mustang she names Flicka.
Katy’s mother, Nell, is opposed to the idea, but Rob encourages her to pursue her dream. With the help of her friend, Howard, Katy begins to train Flicka. But as Katy’s bond with the horse grows stronger, she begins to neglect her responsibilities at home.
Meanwhile, Nell and Rob are struggling to keep the ranch afloat. They are also having difficulty connecting with Katy, who is growing increasingly distant. When Nell finds out that Katy has been skipping school to spend time with Flicka, she sends her to a boarding school in Denver.
At school, Katy meets a new friend, Toby, who helps her find the courage to stand up to her parents and fight for her dream. With Toby’s help, Katy devises a plan to save the ranch and prove to her parents that she can be responsible.
Katy and Toby take Flicka to a rodeo, where Katy competes in a wild horse race. Despite the odds, Katy and Flicka win the race, and the prize money helps the family save the ranch. In the
