Synopsis – What to Expect from “Fletch”
Fletch is a 1985 American comedy film starring Chevy Chase, directed by Michael Ritchie, and written by Andrew Bergman.
The film follows the story of investigative reporter Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher, who is assigned to write an article on drug trafficking at a local beach. Fletch discovers that drug kingpin Alan Stanwyk is behind the dealings, and Stanwyk attempts to bribe Fletch to keep quiet. Fletch refuses, and Stanwyk frames him for murder. Fletch is then forced to go on the run and clear his name.
Fletch follows a series of clues to uncover the truth behind Stanwyk’s activities, and he eventually discovers that Stanwyk is involved in a shady real estate deal. Fletch is then able to expose Stanwyk’s criminal activities and clear his own name.
Throughout the film, Fletch is assisted by his friend, Gail Stanwyk, Alan’s daughter. Gail helps Fletch uncover the truth about her father’s activities, and they eventually fall in love.
The film ends with Fletch and Gail getting married, and Fletch is able to get his job back at the newspaper. Fletch is also able to expose Stanwyk’s criminal activities, and the real estate deal is stopped.
