Synopsis – What to Expect from “Flag Day”
Flag Day is a 2021 American drama film directed by Sean Penn and written by Jean-Marc Vallee. The film stars Sean Penn, Steve Carell, and Josh Brolin.
The story follows a father and daughter, Frank (Sean Penn) and Eleanor (Emma Greenwell), who are struggling to make ends meet. Frank is an Iraq War veteran who is struggling to find a job and to provide for his family. Eleanor is a bright and ambitious young woman who dreams of going to college and making something of herself.
When Frank discovers that his estranged father, John (Steve Carell), is still alive and living in a small town in Pennsylvania, he decides to take Eleanor there to meet him. When they arrive, they find that John is living in a small house with a flagpole in the front yard. He tells them that the flagpole is a symbol of his commitment to the United States and its values.
John and Frank have a strained relationship, but over the course of the film, they slowly start to form a bond. Eleanor also starts to bond with her grandfather and finds out more about her family’s history.
As the days go by, Frank and Eleanor start to realize the importance of the flagpole and what it stands for. They also realize that it is a symbol of hope, unity, and patriotism.
The film culminates in a powerful scene on Flag Day, when John leads a local parade and the town
