Firefox is a 1982 action-adventure film directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Clint Eastwood, Freddie Jones, and David Huffman. The film is set during the Cold War, and follows the story of Mitchell Gant, a former USAF fighter pilot who is recruited by the CIA to steal a top-secret Soviet fighter jet, the MiG-31 Firefox. Gant is sent to the Soviet Union to steal the jet, which is equipped with advanced weapons technology that could give the United States a significant advantage in the Cold War.
The film follows Gant as he infiltrates the Soviet Union and attempts to steal the Firefox. Along the way, he is pursued by Soviet forces, and must use his skills as a pilot and his knowledge of the Soviet military to stay one step ahead of them. He must also contend with the Soviet military’s attempts to prevent him from stealing the Firefox.
Ultimately, Gant is successful in stealing the Firefox and returns to the United States with the jet. The film culminates in a dramatic aerial battle between Gant and the Soviet forces, with Gant ultimately emerging victorious.
