Synopsis/Plot
Fifty Shades Darker is a 2017 American erotic romantic drama film directed by James Foley and written by Niall Leonard, based on the novel of the same name by E. L. James. The film stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively, and follows the couple as they rekindle their relationship, while struggling with their inner demons and facing new threats.
The film opens with Anastasia Steele, having ended her relationship with Christian Grey, beginning a new job as assistant to Jack Hyde, the new editor of Seattle Independent Publishing. Christian, still deeply in love with Anastasia, attempts to rekindle their romance. He begins to make amends for the mistakeshe made in the past and introduces her to his brother Elliot and sister Mia, with whom she becomes close. Meanwhile, Anastasia discovers that Christian has been visiting a former lover, Elena Lincoln, and is deeply hurt.
Christian and Anastasia further their relationship, but Christian’s past continues to haunt them. Anastasia is stalked by Jack Hyde, who attempts to purchase the publishing company she works for and is determined to have her. Christian is also threatened by the return of his former dominant, Leila Williams, who is determined to win him back.
Christian and Anastasia’s relationship is tested by their inner demons and external threats, and they must decide if they can move beyond the pain of the past and find a way to be together.
