Synopsis/Plot
Felon is a 2008 crime thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh and starring Stephen Dorff, Val Kilmer, and Harold Perrineau. The film follows the story of a family man, Wade Porter (Dorff), who is sent to prison for accidentally killing a burglar in self-defense. While in prison, Wade struggles to survive in the violent and dangerous environment, and is forced to make difficult decisions to protect himself and his loved ones.
The film opens with Wade’s story leading up to the fateful night. He is a devoted husband and father of two young children, and works as a construction foreman. When a burglar breaks into his home, Wade is forced to defend himself and his family, and in the process kills the intruder. He is arrested and sent to prison, where he quickly learns that the harsh reality of prison life is far from what he expected.
Wade is immediately targeted by an inmate named John Smith (Kilmer), who is the leader of a powerful prison gang. Smith takes a liking to Wade and offers to protect him in exchange for his loyalty. Wade is reluctant to accept the offer, but soon realizes that he has no other choice if he wants to survive
