Synopsis – What to Expect from “Fatima”
Fatima is a 2020 drama film directed by Marco Pontecorvo and written by Pontecorvo and Valerio D’Annunzio. The film stars Soria Garcia, Joaquim de Almeida, Goran Visnjic, Lúcia Moniz, and Alejandra Howard.
The film tells the story of Fatima, a 10-year-old shepherd girl living in the rural Portuguese village of Aljustrel in 1917. One day, while tending her flock, she has a vision of an angel who tells her that she will receive three visions of the future. Although initially hesitant to tell anyone, she eventually confides in her two young cousins, Lucia and Jacinta, and the three children become the focus of much attention as news of the visions spreads throughout the village.
The visions contain messages of faith, hope, and peace, and the children are soon visited by the Virgin Mary, who asks them to pray and perform acts of charity. Despite the skepticism of the local priest and the hostility of the village mayor, the children remain steadfast in their faith and continue to spread the messages they have received.
As the story progresses, the children’s visions become more and more powerful, and they are subjected to ridicule and persecution from the townspeople. Eventually, the visions reach the ears of the Church, and the children are brought to Rome to be examined by the Pope. Despite the Church’s doubts
