Synopsis/Plot
Father of the Bride is a classic comedy-drama film released in 1991. It stars Steve Martin as George Banks, a loving but somewhat overprotective father who must come to terms with his daughter’s impending marriage. The film follows George as he struggles to accept the fact that his daughter, Annie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), is growing up and leaving the nest. As the wedding day approaches, George must learn to let go and accept the changes that come with his daughter’s newfound independence.
The film also stars Diane Keaton as Nina Banks, George’s wife and Annie’s mother, Martin Short as Franck Eggelhoffer, the eccentric wedding planner, and George Newbern as Bryan MacKenzie, Annie’s fiancé. As the wedding draws near, George is faced with the challenge of reconciling his feelings of pride and joy for his daughter with his reluctance to let go of her. In the end, George learns to accept the changes in his daughter’s life and his own.
