Synopsis – What to Expect from “Father Figures”
Father Figures is a 2017 comedy-drama directed by Lawrence Sher. The movie stars Owen Wilson and Ed Helms as two brothers, Peter and Kyle Reynolds, who embark on a road trip in search of their real father.
The story begins with Peter and Kyle learning that their mother, Helen (Glenn Close), has never told them who their father is. They set out on a journey to find him and discover the truth. Along the way, they meet a variety of people who claim to be their father, including a former hippie (J.K. Simmons), a rodeo cowboy (Terry Bradshaw), and a high-powered businessman (Christopher Walken).
On their journey, the brothers learn more about their mother’s past and discover that she had a wild and complicated love life. They also learn that their father could be any one of the men they meet on their journey.
The brothers eventually find their father, a kindly old man living in a small town in the Midwest. He reveals to them that he had always wanted to meet them but was afraid to do so. He also reveals that he is dying and that he has never stopped loving their mother.
The brothers come to terms with their newfound knowledge and accept their father for who he is. They also come to terms with the fact that their mother had been keeping the truth from them all these years. In the end, the brothers forgive their mother and come to understand why she
