Synopsis – What to Expect from “Family Business”
Family Business is a 1989 crime comedy-drama starring Sean Connery, Matthew Broderick, and Dustin Hoffman.
The film follows the story of Vito McMullen (Sean Connery), an aging mob boss who is struggling to keep his criminal empire afloat. He’s been struggling to keep his business afloat for years, and his sons, Adam (Matthew Broderick) and Joey (Dustin Hoffman), are growing tired of waiting for their inheritance. In a last ditch effort to save his legacy, Vito decides to recruit his sons into the family business.
Adam is a college student studying business, and Joey is a street-smart hustler, but both are eager to join their father in the family business. Vito sends them on a mission to rob a local bank, which they do successfully. However, the police soon catch up with them, and they are forced to go on the run.
As the McMullen family evades the police, they continue to commit their crimes, but in the process, they also learn some valuable lessons about family and loyalty. Along the way, the McMullens come across a variety of colorful characters, including a corrupt cop, a rival mob boss, and a former employee of Vito’s.
