Synopsis/Plot
Extraordinary Measures is a 2010 drama film directed by Tom Vaughan and starring Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford, and Keri Russell. The movie centers around John Crowley, a successful businessman who is forced to take extraordinary measures when his two young children are diagnosed with Pompe disease, a rare and fatal genetic disorder. In order to save their lives, John embarks on a desperate search for a cure.
John meets Dr. Robert Stonehill, a brilliant scientist who has dedicated his life to finding a cure for Pompe disease. With Stonehill’s help, John and his wife Aileen attempt to raise the money needed to fund the research. Despite the odds, the Crowleys are determined to save their children’s lives and to create a foundation that will help other families affected by this devastating illness.
The movie follows John and Aileen’s journey as they attempt to find a cure for Pompe disease and help other families affected by this rare illness. Along the way they face numerous obstacles, including a lack of funding, the skepticism of the medical community, and the realities of raising two children with a life-threatening illness.
