Synopsis/Plot
Excalibur is a 1981 film directed by John Boorman that tells the story of the legendary King Arthur and his quest to bring justice and peace to the kingdom of Camelot. The story begins with Uther Pendragon, King of Britain, stealing the magical sword Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake. Uther’s illegitimate son, Arthur, is then born and brought up by Sir Ector and his wife.
When Arthur is a young man, Merlin, a powerful wizard, gives him the sword Excalibur. With the help of the wizard Merlin, Arthur is able to unite the warring factions of Britain and create the kingdom of Camelot. He also marries Guinevere, the daughter of the Duke of Cornwall, and they have a son, Mordred.
However, Arthur’s reign is not without its problems. His knights, including Lancelot, are constantly fighting for his love and attention. Meanwhile, Morgana, Uther’s half-sister, is out to destroy Arthur and Camelot with the help of her evil forces.
