Synopsis/Plot
Evil Under the Sun is a 1982 British mystery film based on the 1941 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The film follows the story of a glamorous island resort and the murder of the famous actress Arlena Marshall. Hercule Poirot (Peter Ustinov) is called in to investigate the case, and he soon discovers that the suspects are all connected to Arlena in some way.
The film follows Poirot as he interviews each of the suspects and slowly unravels the mystery of Arlena’s murder. The suspects include Arlena’s husband, her former lover, her current admirer, a famous singer, and a mysterious stranger. As Poirot pieces together the clues, he discovers that the murderer is someone close to Arlena, whose motive is rooted in a dark secret from the past.
The film is an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery, and is a classic example of the “whodunit” genre. The film features a star-studded cast, including Peter Ustinov, Dame Maggie Smith, and Diana Rigg. The film is set in a luxurious island resort, and features stunning cinematography of the Mediterranean
