Synopsis/Plot

Every Which Way but Loose is a 1978 American action comedy film starring Clint Eastwood and directed by James Fargo. The film follows Philo Beddoe (Eastwood), a trucker and brawler who travels through the American West searching for a lost love while accompanied by his best friend, an orangutan named Clyde.

The film begins with Philo in a bar brawl with a group of bikers. After winning the fight, he meets a woman named Lynn Halsey-Taylor (Sondra Locke) and quickly falls in love with her. They hit the road together, with Clyde in tow, and set off on an adventure to find Lynn’s ex-boyfriend, a country singer named Orville Boggs (Geoffrey Lewis). Along the way, they must dodge the bikers, who are out for revenge, as well as the police, who are after Philo for a variety of minor offenses.
